The Yamagata Prefecture Synthetic Spider Silk Related Industry Cluster Conference, aiming for the industrialization of synthetic spider silk, has launched, and the first meeting was held at the prefectural office on June 18, 2014. The conference consists of 13 representatives from industry, academia, and government and funds around the prefecture. Mieko Yoshimura, the Governor of Yamagata Prefecture, was inaugurated as chairperson and Masaki Enomoto, the Mayor of Tsuruoka, was inaugurated as vice-chairperson. A business coordination committee has also been established, and the committee will consider concrete policy measures and actions.
