Spiber is pleased to announce that it has been selected to receive the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award at the Japan Techno-Economics Society’s 8th Technology Management and Innovation Awards in recognition of Spiber’s efforts to develop the structural protein industry for the purpose of building a more sustainable society.
The Technology Management and Innovation Awards, which have been conferred yearly since 2012 to those companies recognised as pursuing innovation on a global level, seek to drive economic progress and encourage innovation within Japan. By granting this award to Spiber, the Society recognises accomplishments made in overcoming challenges related to mass production and quality control of Spiber’s structural protein materials, and also acknowledges the many possible applications which could make use of these materials’ superior functionality and potential for reduced environmental impact.
