Spiber launches collaboration with JNBY Group—Brewed Protein™ fiber adopted by a Chinese fashion brand for the first time
Spiber has launched a new collaboration with JNBY Group, a leading contemporary fashion conglomerate based in Hangzhou, China. Through this collaboration, the Group’s two signature brands—JNBY and CROQUIS—will release items made with Brewed Protein™ fiber, marking the first time this material has been adopted by a Chinese fashion brand. This initiative signifies a new phase in Spiber’s business development in the Chinese market—progressing from partnerships with domestic textile manufacturers to direct collaboration with consumer-facing brands.

Presentation at the 2025 SHAN FUTURE FORUM during Shanghai Fashion Week
The collaboration was also introduced at the 2025 SHAN FUTURE FORUM held on October 11 during Shanghai Fashion Week. It was spotlighted as a tangible step forward in advancing both material innovation and sustainable transformation within the fashion industry.
At the forum, Callie Clayton, Global Apparel Product Sales VP at Spiber, joined Stella Zheng from JNBY Group and Han Zhang from Plug and Play China in a panel discussion. Together, they exchanged views on brand–supply chain collaboration to scale new materials and discussed the broader potential of Brewed Protein™ fiber. JNBY Group also announced it had reached its target of 30% sustainable material usage and will continue to adopt advanced biotech materials, including Brewed Protein™ fiber, across its brand portfolio.
Looking ahead
This collaboration marks Spiber’s first consumer-facing brand partnership in the Chinese market and represents a shift from industrial collaborations to direct engagement with consumers. Moving forward, Spiber will continue to expand global partnerships—including across the Asian market—and pursue sustainable innovation through the evolution of materials.
