T-shirts and sweatshirts made with Brewed Protein™ fiber by five Wakayama-based manufacturers to be showcased at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan
Spiber is pleased to announce that Brewed Protein™ fiber has been featured in the latest installment of the “Wakayama Daibakushō” project—an initiative jointly led by volunteers from the Youth Division of the Wakayama Knit Industrial Cooperative and Japanese lifestyle magazine Begin. Under the theme “The Yarn of the Future,” this special collaboration will exhibit and sell limited-edition items at Wow! Wakayama!, part of the WASSE pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan from Wednesday, April 30 to Saturday, May 3. The collection includes T-shirts and sweatshirts produced by five Wakayama-based knitters and processing manufacturers: A-GIRL’S, Hanwa, MIC Textile, KINAN Knitting Corporation, and Fujibo Textile.

Each company has applied its distinctive techniques and strengths to highlight the comfort, texture, and expressive potential of Brewed Protein™ fiber. The collection features a variety of designs, including innovative combinations with other materials, creative knitting methods, and carefully considered dyeing processes.
Among the lineup is a notable T-shirt by A-GIRL’S, a company that has been developing yarns and textiles with Brewed Protein™ fiber since 2023. This product marks the first-ever T-shirt made entirely from 100% Brewed Protein™ fiber, representing a key milestone in the material’s evolution.
In addition to its presence at the Expo, the collection will also be available for purchase online via the project’s dedicated e-commerce platform, Begin Market.
We are excited to see these forward-looking garments—each a testament to Wakayama’s craftsmanship and innovation—introduced to visitors from around the world as tangible representations of the “yarn of the future.”
