Spiber is pleased to announce that YUIMA NAKAZATO presented its Spring/Summer couture collection “UTAKATA” featuring Brewed Protein™ materials at Haute Couture Week in Paris.

This collection featured a total of eight looks using Brewed Protein™ fibers: three of which were jackets and a dress using yarn made of 15% Brewed Protein™ fiber and 85% wool; two blouses using YUIMA NAKAZATO’s original Biosmocking technology, which allows designers to freely transform the shape of fabric through digital fabrication; and three looks consisting of jackets and pants using sumi ink-dyed denim each made of fabric with a 100% organic cotton warp and a weft using a blend of 10% Brewed Protein™ fiber and 90% organic cotton. This was the first time that denim items using Brewed Protein™ fibers were showcased at a couture show, and the lining of the jacket was made of silk organdy printed with armor serving as a symbol of the collection and reflecting its themes of strength, fragility, and a desire for peace.

UTAKATA’s use of Brewed Protein™ fiber in a diversity of pieces displayed the uniqueness and potential of the material itself, as well as how it can bring those aspects to the clothing it composes.
